MPMC to host "Snacks & Facts" Program on Cardiovascular Disease

1/19/2012

Maria Parham to host “Snacks & Facts” Program on Cardiovascular Disease

Maria Parham Medical Center will host a FREE Snacks & Facts program as part of its community outreach into Warren County.  The program will be entitled “Cardiovascular Disease: Putting it into Context” presented by Robin Mathews, MD of Northern Carolina Cardiology.  Dr. Mathews will present an overview of information on cardiovascular disease and discuss signs of early detection, as well as go over ways to treat and more importantly, prevent this disease.

Northern Carolina Cardiology opened in 2011 as Maria Parham Medical Center’s sixth hospital-owned physician practice.  Dr. Mathews teams with Dr. Melissa Daubert to offer a full range of cardiac related diagnosis, treatment, and preventative medicine.  Drs. Mathews and Daubert are also on staff at Duke University Medical Center.  As medical staff members of both facilities, they offer the unique advantage of being able to care for a patient at MPMC and also at Duke if a transfer is necessary.

The event will be held at the Warrenton Rural Volunteer Fire Department on Friday, February 17th from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.  Lunch will begin at 11:30 AM, with the health educational presentation to follow.  There will be a question and answer session afterwards.  There will also be handouts and giveaways.

Although the event & lunch are FREE, please RSVP to Jeannie at 252-436-1401 by Wednesday, February 15th at 5:00pm if you would like to attend, so that appropriate lunch arrangements can be made.
