Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors
A free health and wellness workshop series for breast cancer survivors and co-survivors (their caregivers) is being offered for Vance County and surrounding area residents. The program is offered by the ‘Get REAL & HEEL’ Breast Cancer Program, the Henderson Family YMCA, and Maria Parham Medical Center, with funding from the NC Triangle Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. This two-part workshop series will be held on Tuesday, January 10th and Tuesday, February 21st, from 6:00pm – 8:30pm at the Henderson Family YMCA located at 380 Ruin Creek Road in Henderson.
Different material related to health and survivorship will be addressed at each workshop. Dates and specific topics will be: January 10th - Nutrition & Exercise, and February 21st – Stress Management & Healthy Relationships.
Each session is open to all breast cancer survivors, whether they are recently diagnosed or are a long-term survivor. Participants will receive a pedometer, workbook, healthy snacks, and more. Participants are also welcome to bring one support person.
Both workshops are free of charge, but registration is required. Assistance with transportation costs is available for those who qualify. Please indicate this need during registration.
